The
Shockerdile was first seen off the coast of Sutherland by a small boy called Josh who was sitting on his Father’s shoulders whilst giving him a lesson in Zoology.
Josh and the Shockerdile
“Look!” said Josh “A whale, a whale!
A Great White shark, I saw his tail,
And there, just on that rock, you see?
A shockerdile is after me!”
“It's just a common seal,” said Dad,
“Don't be scared my little lad,
He's much more scared of us you know.
Come on now Josh, we have to go.”
“'S'a shockerdile,” insisted Josh
Then suddenly with quite a splosh,
The creature disappeared from sight,
And as the day was nearly night,
Josh and Dad were homeward bound,
And on their tail, without a sound,
A shockerdile with teeth and claws,
Was quite intent on breaking laws.
Dad said “The thing with shockerdiles,
Is even if they swam for miles,
They live in Africa and Oz,
And couldn't swim this far because,
The water here is far too chilly.”
Josh said “That's crocodiles, silly!”
So home they walked in single file,
Joshy, Dad then shockerdile,
And he was gaining all the while,
Until he pounced with toothy smile,
(So said a witness at the trial),
Although the creature, in denial,
Plead not guilty to the Judge,
A point on which he would not budge.
The Judge though wasn't very dim,
He strongly disagreed with him,
And fortunately Dad did too,
(What else could the poor man do),
The shockerdile began to heave,
And then without a by your leave,
He threw up on the courtroom floor,
And there was Dad, alive but sore,
All covered in disgusting bile,
From deep inside the shockerdile.
“Dad,” yelled Josh, with a great big smile,
“I said it was a shockerdile,
Was it that you thought I'd lied,
Please take more care, you could have died!”
The warning here is plain to see,
That children aged as young as three,
Know well that dangerous shockerdiles,
Live all around the British Isles.
